James Stukel Towers Construction

Our newest residence hall is James Stukel Towers, opening in the Fall of 2007. The Towers provide four towers of different heights to accommodate 740 undergraduate students. Each floor in the building has 30 residents, living in 4, 5, and 8 person suites consisting of single rooms, double rooms, bathrooms & living rooms.

The strong community development residence life model is intended to provide coordination and support for a number of academic-related programs and living areas, with each 2-floor community having a 2-story common-area lounge, and each of the Towers offering a penthouse lounge/piano room. The building also provides a full-service dining hall for residents, computer labs, meeting & seminar rooms, student organization offices, and a 150-seat auditorium for special events.

The Towers also accommodates two Faculty Members in Residence and two Residence Life professional staff as well as a Visiting Guest apartment. The convenient location on the corner of Roosevelt Rd. and Halsted St. is adjacent to the new UIC Forum—a facility to seat 3,000 for special programs, 1,000 for banquets, and provide a variety of meeting and conference facilities.
